This policy explains what information tescocafemenu.com (“this guide”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. This guide is an independent website. It is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by Tesco PLC or Tesco Stores Limited. Anything you share with Tesco, in store, in the Tesco app or on tesco.com, is covered by Tesco’s own privacy notice, not this one.
What we collect
- Messages you send us. If you use our Contact page, we receive the details you type in, such as your name, email address and message. We use them only to deal with your message.
- Website analytics. If you accept statistics cookies, we use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and how visitors find the site. It records things like the pages you view, roughly where you are (town or region, not your address), your device and browser, and how you arrived.
- Server logs. Our hosting company keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and the time of each request, to keep the site secure and running.
How we use it
We read your message, check any correction against the official source, and reply if you’ve asked something. Analytics tells us which pages are useful and what needs improving. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Cookies
When you first visit, a banner asks which cookies you’re happy with. Google Analytics only runs if you accept statistics cookies. Our town pages include Google Maps, and Google may set its own cookies when a map loads, so maps stay hidden until you agree. This site doesn’t run adverts or affiliate tracking. You can change your choice at any time, and our Cookie Policy lists the cookies in use.
Who else handles your information
- Google, for analytics and embedded maps. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the website, its server logs and messages sent through the contact form.
Some of Google’s processing may take place outside the UK. Where it does, Google relies on legal safeguards for international transfers.
Links to other websites
We link to other sites, including Tesco’s store locator and café pages, Google Maps and delivery apps such as Just Eat and Uber Eats. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for how they use your information.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages only for as long as we need them to deal with your message and keep a record of corrections. Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting on our account.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent where we rely on it. To do any of this, send us a message through our Contact page. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This guide is written for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
